Dave Crook - Full Junior Organiser and Junior Team Manager - 2015 To date

I played a small amount of golf as a junior on summer holidays in Norfolk, it was a very long time ago but when age prevented me from playing rugby there could only be one way to earn my right to have a beer. Desperately trying to return to my best ever handicap of 12.

I am in awe of the dedication and standard of play of our juniors, from the newest academy player through to our lowest handicappers they work to improve their game. They are well coached and as a section I hope we instil a love and respect for the game which will stay with them until they are old enough to be organisers themselves.

Favourite West Herts hole : 12th.

Favourite hole elsewhere : 8th at Brancaster (Royal West Norfolk).

Best golfing moment : breaking 80 at West Herts.

Golfing ambition : to break 80 at West Herts again.

Anders Norén – Junior Committee Chairman – 2016 to date

My dad and I started playing golf in 1973 when I was thirteen years old at Roslagen’s Golf Club north of Stockholm. Golf became my main interest during weekends and the long school summer holidays in Sweden.

As an active junior and later junior organiser, I always participated in the 5-day Junior Camp in the first week of school holidays. About 20 boys and girls were camping out in sleeping bags in the main dining room of the clubhouse. Coaching and competitions….and only four hours in the day when it was too dark to play!

Today, it is great to see our Juniors develop from young beginners, through coaching and competitions enjoying the game, to become well respected confident golfers. I hope that the social skills, discipline and physical aspects of the game will stay with West Herts Juniors for life.

Favourite West Herts hole: 8th.

Funniest golfing achievement: A running foursome over 18-holes: gross 82, using two clubs only (5 iron and putter) taking 40 minutes from the first tee shot to the last putt

Golfing ambition: to play regularly golf at West Herts again!
