LADIES

West Herts has a friendly and thriving ladies section of about 100 playing members, about 50 of whom play regularly on a Thursday, with an organised competition each week.  Throughout the year we play monthly qualifying stableford and medal competitions, with a variety of individual and team formats in between.

Handicaps at the club currently range from 8 – 36 with an even spread between – there are serious golfers, as well as those with a more relaxed approach.  There is also a wide age range of players.  As well as the Thursday golf, Ladies have a ‘roll-up’ arrangement every Tuesday which is very active.

There is a busy diary of friendly matches with other nearby clubs throughout the summer and autumn.

The Ladies run numerous trophy competitions – many of which are knockout competitions played over a number of months, and others which are played for on specific Thursdays.  They include scratch competitions in divisions, a ‘Grandmothers’ competition and a vets cup, Foursomes and Greensomes, and others which are played for at our Spring, Summer, and Autumn meetings.

Ladies Competitions 2012

There are Eclectic competitions run in summer and in winter, the entry fees for both being donated to charity.  A number of other charitable donations are made by the Ladies Section through the year, with an annual Charity Bridge and Golf Day being held in aid of the Charity selected by the incumbent Lady Captain.

This year's Lady Captain's selected charity is The Paul Strickland Scanning Centre, based at Mount Vernon Hospital, which uses state of the art scanning technology to provide accurate diagnosis facilitating appropriate treatment for patients with cancer and other serious diseases.

WEEKEND LADIES
We have around 15 ladies who play regularly at the weekend – usually on a Saturday morning.  They play their qualifying competitions at the weekends, and also have the opportunity to play in the competitions during the week if they wish – and many also play in the main ladies’ meetings.

They are a very friendly group of ladies who enjoy their golf.  They have an annual ‘weekend away’ which is very popular, and they also have a busy fixture list of friendly games against weekend ladies at other clubs in the area.
