Ladies' Section

The Ladies section of West Herts Golf Club is an exciting, fun and vibrant group offering opportunities for all members to play fun golf, competitions, team events or just for a casual game of golf with friends.

We host an eclectic mix of trophies, qualifiers and fun competitions held throughout the year. There are also many "any pairing" competitions (often drawn) – men, women or mixed, during the week and the weekend.

Ladies Day is on a Thursday and the tee is reserved from 9.30am.  There are regular morning slots on Saturday or Sunday for Ladies to play at the weekend - social and competitive. There is also a weekly roll-up for friendly ladies’ golf on a Tuesday at 11.30am.

west Herts Golf Club

West Herts golf course offers the opportunity to play 18, 13 or 9.  Of course, there is always the option to just meet for lunch or play Bridge if the weather is really bad using our excellent lounge, dining and bar facilities!

The Club is a very social one with many “roll ups”, club competitions (for juniors, ladies and men) and with great support for the many social events throughout the year.

Our great practice facilities (range, chipping area and practice green) offer the opportunity for individual and group lessons with our resident Professional.

We welcome new golfers (beginners through to those who have been playing for some time) to the Ladies section.  It’s easy to get to know people by joining in our roll ups, signing up to play in the week or weekends with our buddy system helping you to settle into the club, learn the course and introducing you to other members.

Club Golf

Our ladies have a full and varied schedule of competitions which includes regular Medal and Stablefords and full day events of the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings.

West Herts prides itself on its traditions, our Lady Captain’s Prize Day and a Club Captain’s Day are focal points of the year supporting the Lady Captain and the Club Captain’s charities.

We are a very integrated club with many mixed or any pairing competitions which attract large entries during the week, evenings and weekends – most are drawn so just sign up to play and include Texas scrambles and other formats. Our annual Club Day has morning golf (men, women and juniors) with members’ families arriving at lunch time to enjoy a BBQ, bouncy castle, a magician and many other activities.

There are two opportunities through the year to ‘show off’ West Herts to your golfing friends at the ‘Ladies Invitation Days’ - weekday and weekend.

We not only have fun playing our own competitions but we also enjoy playing other clubs and make many friends.

We have three competitive golf teams: the Scratch A team (which plays in the Herts Ovaltine League), the Scratch B Team and the Pearson Team (which competes for the prestigious Pearson Trophy).  These are played in league form on a home and away basis, offering you a chance to play some great courses.

We also have weekend and weekday friendly matches (home and away) throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn months.  An opportunity to meet up with other golfers and enjoy playing other courses.

Each year our ladies take part in the prestigious ‘‘Herts Bowl’’ competition, which is a major event in our calendar, and contested between local clubs. We also enter teams in some of the Hertfordshire County competitions: The Interclub Foursomes, Powell Cup & De Paula Cup to name a few. The ladies also compete in the Daily Mail Foursomes, Coronation Foursomes, Ping 4 ball betterball and Mail on Sunday competitions, with Ladies and Junior girls competing in the County Championships.

Our very popular Ladies Open, which is held on the first Monday in September, gives you the opportunity to come and enjoy our amazing course.

Newsletters are emailed out, most weeks, from the club and the ladies section detailing up and coming events, competitions and weekly news.

New members are always welcome, whether you are new to golf or have played before, if you are interested in joining please contact either our ladies secretary ( or the general manager ( and we will be delighted to show you our course, clubhouse and practice facilities.

We look forward to meeting you.
