A Ball lying on any “closely mown area” through the green may, without penalty, be moved or may be lifted, cleaned and placed within six inches of where it originally lay, but not nearer the hole. After the ball has been so moved or placed, it is in play. (Please note this shall cease from 1st May 2010)
Fairway distance markers
These are deemed immovable obstructions under the Rules of Golf 24-2 and relief may be taken.
Green stakes and ropes
These are deemed to be movable obstructions under Rules of Golf 24-1. If these are not moved and the ball is deflected by the stake or rope it shall be played from where it lies (no penalty).
Ground under repair
Areas where the Green Staff have carried out work (and are circled and marked GUR) are deemed ground under repair from which play is prohibited and relief must be taken under Rule 25-1.
Area’s that have been prepared for Temporary Greens are deemed ground under repair from which play is prohibited and relief must be taken under Rule 25-1.
If a ball comes to rest in an aeration hole on any ‘closely mown area’, the ball may be lifted and placed within 6 inches as per the ‘preferred lies’.
If a player’s ball comes to rest in a tractor mark it may be lifted and dropped within one club length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.
